Google Maps 'next dimension' event: Live blog at 9:30 a.m. PT

As rumors swirl about Apple ditching Google Maps in iOS, Google's got a big Maps-related event planned today in San Francisco. CNET will be there to bring you the news live

Google is taking the wraps off some new mapping technology today, and CNET will be there to bring you the news live.
The Google Maps event kicks off at 9:30 a.m. PT. You can go here to find out where that is in your time zone, as well as set a reminder.
In its invite last week, Google said that its vice president of Google Maps and Earth, Brian McClendon, will give a "behind-the-scenes" look at Google Maps, as well as show off "some of the newest technology" and a "sneak peak" at upcoming features.
The event comes just a few days before Apple is rumored to be parting ways with Google as the provider of maps in iOS, and a few weeks ahead of Google's own I/O conference, making whatever is announced all the more interesting.
